Commercial Use Classes

Commercial properties are generally designated a Use Class, or a Use may be established over time. The Use Class will dictate who can trade from the premises.

There were significant changes to the Use Class Order in September 2020 which essentially redesignated a number of previous Use Classes under a new Class E. Class E now allows a unit to be used for a variety of uses without the need for a formal planning application. However, some uses such as Takeaways and Bars, Car Sales etc, will require a Sui-Generis Use Class.
