Maggs & Allen's February auction was a fantastic start to 2017 with 29 exciting and varied lots being featured in the catalogue. The auction was a resounding success with 96% of the lots on offer being successfully sold and over 500 prospective bidders in attendance.
One of the most highly anticipated lots on offer was Devon House in Whitehall, a substantial detached building of over 8,500sqft offering potential for a variety of different uses. The property was guided at £500,000+ and generated high levels of interest amongst developers seeking to obtain planning consent for a conversion to residential flats. Following strong competition in the auction room the property eventually sold for £810,000 to a Bristol based company who intend to use the building for supported living.
Perhaps the busiest lot of the auction was 65 Wootton Crescent in St Annes which had a guide price of £150,000+ and comprised of a 1930s end of terrace house in need of complete refurbishment. Further benefits included a spacious loft room and a large garage/workshop to the rear. The gavel eventually fell at £240,000, some £90,000 over the guide price.
This property was the subject of our Facebook competition to guess the sale price with the person with the closest guess winning a case of Laurent Perrier champagne!
